MANUAL ORTOPODIC THERAPY
OF EXTREMITIES: LOWER EXTREMITY

APPLY HERE
Theoretical practical course of four days, which seeks to deliver a set of tools to develop an appropriate evaluation, clinical reasoning, treatment with orthopedic manual therapy techniques plus a complete motor control program for the different pathologies that affect the lower limb specifically ankle and foot, knee and hip.
Program
First day
Anatomy, biomechanics and lower extremity muscle chains

OBJECTIVES:

Acquire knowledge of the lower limb anatomy. Recognize the different regions, compartments and muscle chains. Master vascularization and innervation. Master muscular, tendon physiology and joint biomechanics of ankle / foot, knee and hip.

CONTENT:

Lower limb anatomy: osteology, arthritis, myology, vascular and nervous anatomy.

Joint biomechanics: Ankle and foot, knee and hip, along with identification of key structures.

Knowledge of the lower extremity muscle chains.

Second day
Pathologies of the lower limb: Ankle and foot

OBJECTIVES:

Know the different pathologies that affect the lower limb specifically ankle and foot, both acute and chronic, involving bones, joints and ligaments, giving special emphasis to this joint as a postural captor and its influences on global static. Develop a correct evaluation, classification and treatment methodology for conservative and post-surgical users.

CONTENT:

Recognize different pathologies: ankle sprain, chronic instabilities, ankle fractures. Ankle and foot tendinopathies, sympathetic neuropathies and sports injuries. Kinesthetic treatment based on soft tissue management, manual orthopedic therapy.

Third Day
Lower limb pathologies: Knee and Hip

OBJECTIVES:

Know the different pathologies that affect the lower limb specifically of the knee and hip that involve bones, joints and ligaments. Develop a correct evaluation, classification and treatment methodology for conservative and post-surgical users.

CONTENT:

Patellofemoral pain syndrome, tendon pathologies and fractures, meniscal dysfunctions, hip impingement, peritrochanteric syndromes.

Kinesthetic treatment based on soft tissue management, manual orthopedic therapy.

Fourth day
Lower limb pathologies: Upper limb neurodynamics, entrapments and kinesic management

OBJECTIVES:

Know the different neural pathologies that affect the lower limb entrapment of the sciatic nerves and their different branches, femoral and obturator. Develop a correct evaluation, classification and treatment methodology for conservative and post-surgical users.

CONTENT:

Pyramidal syndrome, entrapment of the sciatic nerve along the lower extremity, Thoracolumbar hinge syndrome as a differential diagnosis of trochanteritis, Morton’s neuroma, Baxter’s nerve syndrome.
